In July 2008 STROYTRANSGAZ was awarded by Dolphin Energy Ltd., EPC contract for construction of the Taweelah-Fujairah gas pipeline in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is the first large-scale project in the fuel and energy complex of the United Arab Emirates in which a Russian construction company has taken part.
The gas pipeline linked the receiving terminal in Taweelah (Abu Dhabi Emirate) on the Persian Gulf coast with treatment facilities in Qidfa’ (Fujairah Emirate) on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. The pipeline enabled to increase the offshore gas transportation capacity for providing for the needs of the new electric power station in Fujairah Emirate which supplies energy to the northern parts of UAE.
Stroytransgaz scope of works included basic and detailed engineering, equipment and materials delivery (procurement), constructing the 244 km long linear section with a diameter of 48 inches, and commissioning the project.
Operations with the linear section of the gas pipeline included building two scraper launcher-receiver units, nine line valve units, a gas metering station as well as installing a SCADA system, a system for detecting gas leaks and ensuring fire safety, electrochemical protection, automated control and instrumentation, and telecommunication equipment.
Operations were performed under quite complicated natural and climatic conditions, composite soils and topographies.
The project was completed in 2011.
